1. The Battle of Port Eagle Armada_1588

The year is 1586. Alexander III, Emperor of the Holy Thracian Empire, has declared to bring the Cresco Imperii policy to reality through a war against the Second Empire, another 'heir of Rome'. To make their conquest possible, the Thracians had massive fleets, vast numbers of soldiers and a majority of the Imperial House of Verayne and the 'Caroleans'. Some say that the Thracian Armada at this time was, by far, the largest naval fleet the world had ever seen yet.

The Thracians' first destination is Port Eagle, a colonial city of the Neo-Roman Empire (aka the Second Empire) in present-day northern Greater New Poland. Port Eagle is a coastal port city, while its citadel stands about three kilometers away from the coast. Governed by Tristan Trudeau, the city happened to be the very location where the Thracians made their landing. Governor Tristan Trudeau and Militia Commander Igor Palkinov are the ones to stand against the Thracians.

Now, in May 4th, 1586, around 250,000 Thracian soldiers, many of them veterans of the Eastern Conquest Wars, met little opposition on the sea, and are to land in Port Eagle. The two heirs of Rome, the Holy Thracian Empire and the Neo-Roman Empire (aka the Second Empire), will met in the battle that started it all. Blood will soak the coasts, as the Thracian offensive begins. Will the Thracians be sent back into the sea, or will the Neo-Roman defenses crumble and fall? This remains to be seen..

It was still night, and the Thracian fleet was quickly approaching Port Eagle. The preparations were almost ready, and everything would begin tomorrow morning. The Conquest of the East. Every last Thracian soldier was ready to fight and accomplish the objective. Bring back Rome under the rightful Emperor's rule, and kick out the heathens of the territories of the glorious Roman Empire.

On the deck of the Thracian Armada's flagship, Charles, or better said, His Majesty, Charles Verayne, First Prince of the Holy Empire, was watching the night sky. There were a thousand things that could go wrong tomorrow, but Charles wasn't that worried. Their troops were surely the best in the world. The so called Neo-Romans had fallen in decadence, while the Holy Thracian Empire, Rome's true heir, brought more and more lands under the shadow of its eagle.

Suddenly, someone hugged the white haired Prince from behind. Charles stayed like that, fully knowing who that person was. His twin sister, Julia, or once again better said, Her Majesty, Julia Verayne, First Princess of the Holy Empire.

"Are you worried?", Julia asked, her long silver hair shining a little in the light of the moon."Maybe a little. Still, I'm confident that we can win.", Charles said as he looked as his sister. Looking at her and her red eyed was just making him feel better.

But the night wasn't going to last forever. The morning was soon going to begin, and with it, the most ambitious landing of this century.

While the Prince and Princess of the Holy Thracian Empire were "cuddling" with each other, the Great Alexander III was still awake and sitting in his quarters, planning the upcoming Battle of Port Eagle and devising cunning and strategic moves that would certainly cripple the "Imbecile" Second Empire to its core and enable the Tracians to, once and for all, decisively win the war and crush those false pagan claimants! However, the Emperor was also focusing on another task.

This task was so important and vital to him, ever since he was in his early adult years, that lead to this decision to start the war of reconquest and change the outcome for both of the two claimants of Rome! Namely, to find the mythical yet legendary tomb of Anastasia the Pure-hearted, located in a unknown location called the "Chamber of the Seven Eagles"...she held a powerful yet dangerous secret everyone, except the Emperor and his ever loyal and wise councillor and lover Tatiana, didn't know about. He couldn't even tell it to Prince Charles and Princess Julia, as he thought that they weren't mature enough to know about it (though they would eventually discover the secret after the Emperor's death).

All the information regarding Anastasia the Pure-hearted, were kept and written down in a grand-looking book covered in a dark red color with golden edges. It was given to him by his father and Emperor predecessor. Every time the Emperor would note down new revelations and information in the book, he always remembered his father's last sentences after exposing him the legend of Anastasia the Pure-hearted and giving him the book, namely:

"Alexander, I know you will become the greatest Emperor this world has ever seen. You've shown me, your family, your people, your nation and your foes what you're made of. You're the true essence of what it takes to be a true Roman, and no one will ever take that away from you. Do us proud, and find Anastasia before it is too late, do whatever it takes to do so and rest assured that it will change the world, the world, the world..."

Suddenly Tatiana came in to Alexander III:s private quarters to check on him and asked:
"Oh Alex, my darling, why are you up this late? You're supposed to be resting right now, tomorrow is the big day, the day when we will achieve our first victory over these bastards who claim to be True Romans, even though they are inbred peasants who know nothing of what the meaning "True Romans" is!"

Alexander replied, in a tired and anxious tone:
"Tatiana, everything for tomorrow needs to be planned accordingly to achieve maximum victory over these fukers, and you know I've narrowed my search of Anastasia the Pure-hearted to this corner of the land. Finally, over 30 years has past, filled with difficulties and suffering as my mind has ever clinged to find her Tomb, which is supposed to contain the ultimate secret this world has yet to see but to dangerous to reveal it too early. However, I'm just afraid all of this, her tomb and the secrets contained within it, are just a great big lie..."

Tatiana answered abruptly:
"My Emperor, don't you ever never say that! Don't be filled with those negative and demonic thoughts of yours, your father would be ashamed of the sort of thinking your mind is currently being occupied by! Otherwise, you would have just wasted all of this on nothing basically. Trust me, Anastasia the Pure-hearted and the Chamber of the Seven eagles is real, truly real and not just any childish fantasy stories you would listen to when you were just a babe. Ever since we met and worked together, both professional and for pleasure, I've always been astonished and impressed by your vigor, charisma and ambition to reach goals that seemed to be impossible to accomplish. Like your father always told you, don't be let down by others, follow your destiny and find that god damn secret that NEEDS to be discovered. I believe in faith, and I think you're the chosen one to lead the greatest people on this world! To everlasting glory and a bright future for our decendants!"

Tatiana and Alexander III then smiled at each other. The Emperor thought that she is right, he is the chosen one to lead his people and uncover the secrets of Anastasia the Pure-hearted!
Tatiana finally said: "You clearly need some relaxation, let me give you true Roman pleasure..."

Ohh, behave my darling, I don't know if I can handle this considering I'm an old Tiger who nee...." said Alexander who was suddenly pushed to the bed by Tatiana, as she undressed herself to commence the act of love.

"Oh shut up for once, hihihi, you talk to much. I will show you great techniques I've learned from this weird Indian book, something called Kama Sutri, Sutra Kama, what da hell it's called" said Tatiana and it began...

"Ohhhhhh, yeeaaaahhhhhhhhhhh, fuk yeah..........." Alexander III was having his last erotic adventure before the Battle of Port Eagle.

The night was clear, absolutely dark, as Duke Ragnus inhaled the saline air aboard His Majesty's ship Verania. Well into his sixties, he knew that this might be the last campaign he ever embarked upon, before retiring comfortably into a countryside estate in ancient Ephasia.

He repeated His Majesty's instructions carefully. Using the onboard artillery, the boats, the deployment of men, horses. Striking at the fortifications of the fort, enemy ships. Coordinating. Anticipating. Planning.

Always planning. It's what made him so succesful. Succinct, effective tactics alongside an ever growing wealth of experience is what he took pride in. Forty five years of conquest has bequeathed upon him a perspective on the world that few have ever had.

Looking down at his uniform, he saw the rows of medals, ribbons, stripes and stars. His pendant from his father, passed down through centuries down the ancient bloodline, the only object that he carried around at all times. He had no children. The empire was his to protect anyway.

He gazed up again. He could see land.

While everyone was preparing for the upcoming battle of Port Eagle, one could hear the various Tavern songs and sea shanties onboard the Thracian ships, courtesy of the Golfian mercenaries. Though they were known as great sailors and fighters, their cruising entertainment never lost its touch. It started first in the many Golfian taverns, where sailors would have fun and relax, listening to some fine tunes. Eventually, they brought with them these songs and shanties on their journeys, keeping the spirits and morale high! Their Thracian allies were quite fond of them, and sang together with the Golfians! Like the Golfian sailors would always say: "Keep Calm and Drink Rum!"

Examples of what type of songs one could hear, Enjoy! Very Happy

Tristan Trudeau, Governor of Port Eagle, woke to the sound of cannons ripping the sky and a subsequent explosion rocking the city. When he looked out the window to the sea, he could already see smoke plumes rising upon the coast, while dozens of sails were visible even from such distances. Although he couldn't really make out the flags along the sails, he knew that these ships were the cause of the sounds at sunrise.

Looking at the sea, Tristan did a quick analysis of the unknown invaders: given the location of the smoke plumes, these ships must've struck some of Port Eagle's coastal batteries, while he couldn't guarantee the safety of the Imperial Arsenal for the coastal batteries. From the distance, he also marked out that a fraction of the city's outer walls (those near the coast) were also hit by cannon fire.

In short, Port Eagle was going to be under attack.

"Sir," a messenger of the Imperial Army, dressed in green with gold outlines, came to speak just as Governor Trudeau came down the stairs to the Governor's Common Room. He must've rushed to the city just then, as he was catching his breath. "We have a problem at our coast."

"What is it?" Governor Trudeau asked. "Is it relevant to the sound of cannons rocking the coast?"

"Yes," the messenger answered. "The Thracians are landing."

Prior to the landing, the Thracian navy sounded the drums in response to the bells of Port Eagle screaching through the air!
"Well well well, they're trying to drown us with their bells. Boys, let's give them our own "volley", sound the drums!!!" commanded one of the High ranking Admirals

Still at sea, the ships of the Thracian Armada opened fire on the fortifications of Port Eagle. Salvo after salvo, the mighty Thracian ships fired, with the obvious objective of clearing the way for the landing troops. The Thracians clearly had the advantage, as their ships had a bigger firepower then the coastal batteries of the city.

In one of the boats that were taking soldiers of the Legio II "Odrysia" and Legio IV "Valahia", the red eyed Prince Charles was looking at the city they were about to land in. It didn't looked to be extremely well defended, but landing their troops on such a small beach was going to be a pain in the ass. Still, this was going to be interesting..

The first bluecoats jumped on the beach. One of them was holding the blue-gold-red Thracian banner, with a golden Imperial Eagle on top. The Holy Imperial Army had arrived. The West met the East.

"All in line! Battle formation! Show no fear!"

The first Thracians quickly entered their normal four lines formation, which allowed an incredibly high fire rate of fire, as the lines fired one after another. Usually, until the last line managed to fire, the first already had its weapons reloaded, so the rate of fire was kept constant.

Advance! For Malkbacconne and the Holy Empire!

With this, the Thracians started to advance towards the enemy.

After Prince Charles landed with the first Thracians, Emperor decided that now was the time to lead his beloved Golfian mercenaries and return the favor to those Eastern Romans!

The Emperor started to issue his first orders to Duke Ragnus and Michael: "Ragnus, lead our riflemen, archers, crossbowmen and most importantly, the hand canoneers. You need to put those metal mantlets on the ground, it will provide great protection! Cover our path, while the Prince and I advance towards the walls! Michael, you need to take command of our deployable artillery, pound dem sons of b!tches and help destroy the walls, cus no one likes scaling a huge pile of fine edged stone while being shot in the face!

At last, the Emperor joined up with the Prince and Thracians, together with the finest and most elite army of Golfian heavy- and medium infantry, while at the same time they started to play the nice military marching tunes. Each regiment played one of these tunes while receiving heavy fire from the Easterners...

"MEN; SHOW THEM WHAT THRACIANS AND GOLFIANS ARE MADE OUT OF, FORWARD, MARCH!"

A soldier suddenly shouted: "INCOMING FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Fuk, well, here it goes I guess...hey wait a minute, where da hell is Julia?!" the Emperor whispered to himself, knowing that this could turn into a bloodbath...

The boats have been deployed from HMS Verania, carrying the Second Legion towards the beach of Port Eagle. After the initial vanguard of the Emperor's elite, the Duke was ordered to prepare the beach for the cavalry further out at sea.
The Tercio pikemen settled into trademark square formation with musketmen in the corners, guarding the flanks of the beach. The crossbowmen assembled into ranks two deep, with armored longswordsmen blocking the front. Polandian Hwachas mounted on mobile boats designed for operation in shallow waters fired heavy bolts over the fortifications. Further out, the Verania fired its bombards at the crenellations atop the wall where enemy arquebusiers fired down on the Emperor's vanguard attempting to set up a ladder to scale the wall. The enemy launched boulders and explosives over the walls with heavy trebuchets, and the neigh of horses could be heard beyond the wall, ready to charge the Thracians as soon as the wall fell.

The Emperor was watching the carnage unfold. Thracians and their Golfian allies marching towards the wall, facing incoming barrages of fire from the defenders and Trebutches flining huge rocks and boulders, smashing their fragile bodies, despite their heavy armor, into moosh. Their own artillery from the main force of Thracian ships and Golfian support ships, were too firing to give cover...

"I may have been fighting for over 30 yrs. but I still can't get over the thought of death, piercing one's body like a ghost and seeing my beloved brothers suffering like that, it's unimaginable what horrors they're going through....but, alas, such is the way of the art of war itself I guess..."The Emperor mentioned it to the Dukes Regnus and Michael, and they too felt the pain the Emperor was enduring but were however silent.

"Remember my lords, don't commit the the Warrior Priests, Rabbis and Imams and the Pagan Hunters yet, unleash them when the weakness of Port of Eagle opens up to us!"

Post by Atlantica/FEU Fri Oct 23, 2015 4:52 pm

When the Thracians were making their landing, Governor Trudeau was preparing the city for a battle: since there wasn't really much a way for him to prevent the landing due to numerical inferiority, he knew that the battle had to be taken as a defensive one. Under the command of Igor Palkinov, the militia of Port Eagle were re-armed for combat, while about 8,000 Imperial Army troops were sent to the city's inner walls.

"There's the problem with our forces out there," said Igor Palkinov, as he met Governor Trudeau for a commander's meeting. "We should be coming to their aid."

"The Thracians have great numerical superiority - even as far as I can estimate, I'm seeing a hundred of their battleships at the very least," responded Governor Trudeau. "If we send forth our troops, we will most likely lose them as well, subsequently leaving Port Eagle defenseless and its people to perish. We should, at best, protect what we still have."

"Then we'll have to ditch our soldiers on the coast, then," stated Igor Palkinov. "Should we attempt attacking them from the walls? We still have about 30 cannons inside the citadel."

"Although we don't have enough numbers, we must try," answered Governor Trudeau. "And meanwhile, we must prepare for the clash - I'll be at the defense of the citadel, while you can prevent them from getting into the citadel."

As he was commanded, Igor Palkinov used his militia to build a defensive formation just outside the citadel, while positioning 12 cannons outside the citadel for fire support. Pulling out cannons from the citadel was a gamble - they were risking a part of the defense of Port Eagle to destroy the Thracians in advance. If they failed, the security of Port Eagle cannot be guaranteed.

Looking out towards the sea on his horse, he could now see the might of the Thracian invaders - even from that distance, the sight of Thracian battleships and their Tercios were intimidating indeed. They seemed to be making a direct advance towards their direction, evident through the sight of advancing cavalry and Tercio formations.

"So it's battle, soldiers," said Igor Palkinov. He turned to the front-most formations and commanded, "Fire!"

Just as they were commanded, the soldiers on the front - those who formed three lines of matchlocks, with a few cannons on the side - opened fire against the incoming Thracians: while the cannons were focused on bringing down the Tercio formations, the liens of matchlocks fired against the charging cavalry. As the first line fired, the second and third lines loaded their rounds. When the second line released its salvo of bullets, the third were ready to fire, while the first line was loading. By the time the third line fired, the first line was ready to fire. This had allowed them a significantly greater rate-of-fire than before, which had proven quite effective against incoming cavalry charges.

The battle was on.

The seemingly reckless Thracian cavalry charge was quickly stopped by the Neo-Romans, but it accomplished it's objective. It allowed the blue coats to follow their usual tactic, approaching the enemy until they could see the white in their eyes, before firing.

The drums of the Thracians stopped as the soldiers arrived in their formation somewhere in front of the enemies. Prince Charles looked at the enemies, as thought, their numbers where much smaller, and considering their uniforms, they were probably militias, no match for the experienced Odrysians and Wallachians, veterans of the Eastern Wars.

Disciplined, and extremely close to the enemy, the Thracians, in their four ranks deep Tercio formation entered their position, with the musketeers ready to fire upon the enemy.
"Foc!"

The first line fired, then started to reload. The second line fired, then started to reload. Until the last line would fire, the first was ready to fire again. That, combined with their muskets, which were faster to reload, allowed the Thracian musketeers an unrivaled rate of fire, that was devastating to the enemy.

As the recently deployed land light artillery started to fire directly on the citadel behind the enemy, the Thracians continued to fire, pinning the enemy down with devastating continuous salvos.

Meanwhile, the Veranians led by Duke Frederick and the Glofian mercenaries started to approach the city of Port Eagle itself. The bombardment of the Thracian Armada had probably already severely damaged the wall. The disciplined tercios and the blood-thirsty mercenaries were quickly approaching the city, ready to take it for the Holy Empire's glory.

"Now I think that the enemy is pinned down enough, so it's time to deploy our heavier Babes. Just make sure that you'll not make the ships sink, considering they are the heaviest pieces we ever aqcuired, thanks to the GD of Golfia" said the Emperor.

He ordered the 64-pounder cannons and Organ guns to be deployed on the beaches and destroy the walls completely and at a much faster rate. Firstly, the ships carrying the heavy "babes" docked near the shore and a couple of Thracians connected the Ships with the shorelines through specially crafted metal pathways to be able to deploy these heavy artillery. After some difficulty, there were huge wages which could easily tip the ships over, they managed to deploy them on the beaches. The most dangerous barrages from these lethal "babes" would commence...

"You there, what are your names?" The Emperor asked two battle-stylished men

"Ben-David Murion" answered the first man, one of the leaders and a priest of Malcbacconism for the Warrior Clergy (Priests, Rabbis and Imams)
"Johannes von Totenkopf" answered the second man, high ranking officer of the Heretic Hunters of the Golfian Inquisition and Gaitioist.

"Ah, excellent, now I know! Anyway, Murion and von Totenkopf, I need you two to prepare a surprise assault on the walls of Port Eagle. A scout just confirmed that there's a unguarded area of the wall, literally no Easterners guarding it and there's a hole, big enough for your sizes. Take your warrior clergy respectively the Heretic hunters, infiltrate the city through the hole, eliminate anyone standing on the walls firing at the Veranians led by our Duke Frederick and our Glofian mercenaries and try to open that gate. Just be careful and abort the task if you must. If the walls are down by then, just provide a covering flanking attack through that hole. Orders understood?" the Emperor explained.

"Yes me Lord!, Come on lads, Let's go and show the Thracians what we're made of"! said One of two fanatical religious order officers, and off they went.

"I just hope what they are doing, this is a high risk gamble as I haven't seen these zealous warriors perform in battle before"... the Emperor whispered worringly.

Projectiles rained down on Duke Ragnus' pikemen on the sides of the beach and the crossbowmen in the center. Further back, the engineers were struggling to lay down wood and iron battlements to allow more cavalry to later advance across the wet sand. Short on ammunition supplies, the crossbowmen joined the engineers, leaving them at the mercy of the Neo Roman trebuchets.
Ragnus saw the situation and ordered the engineers to stop building the cavalry path, rather, to use the spare iron plates to erect defensive fortifications at the front of the line, just behind the Golfian mercenaries assaulting the wall. This somewhat alleviated the gunfire from the Eastern arquebusiers, allowing them to advance under the arc of the trebuchet fire. However, this move left the crossbowmen increasingly under supplied, giving more opportunities to the enemy to fire without retaliation. The Hwachas were slowly being moved onto land to prepare to attack the citadel, however their fragile, wooden nature left them vulnerable to any bombards the Neo Romans may have.

While the Thracians continued to storm the city, Governor Trudeau was making his moves: commanding the remainder of the Imperial Army at Port Eagle, he led his forces to the defense of Port Eagle. While the militia outside the citadel were holding their lines against incoming Tercios and musketeers, the Imperial Army focused on taking out soldiers with ranged weaponry, such as hwachas and crossbows. Governor Trudeau himself held a flintlock from the citadel's walls and fired upon Golfian mercenaries daring to reach the gate.

Nevertheless, the situation seemed desperate for Port Eagle: heavily outnumbered, the Imperial Army and the Militia became more of islands surrounded by a sea of Thracians, with cannonballs from the Thracian Armada constantly raining down upon them. There was no doubt that the Imperial Army near the coast were wiped out - thanks to that, the militia were forced to face Thracians on all directions, barely making progress. Those on the Citadel weren't much better.

Just then, rounds fired from several 64-pounder cannons struck the gates of Port Eagle's citadel - then, with a thud, the left half of the gate crumbled down. More rounds rained down, crashing down upon the citadel's walls. The gate crumbled down, the Thracians and Golfian mercenaries began to advance into the citadel, ready to bring destruction into the walls.

Governor Trudeau drew his sword, knowing that he will have to engage in melee combat. However, before he was able to wield it, he was shot by a matchlock cleverly fired by one of the Thracian soldiers. The last thing he had saw before blacking out was a young commander on a black horse - someone he had assumed as the notorious Prince Charles.

The white haired Prince watched as one of his soldiers shot at a person he recognized as being the Governor of Port Eagle. Now that their artillery had successfully managed to destroy the gates of the citadel, Prince Charles was leading his men personally just like every time, riding on a black horse.  With the enemy commander dead, and with Thracian soldiers and Golfian mercenaries inside the citadel, the end of the battle was near. Not that these fake Romans had any chance to win.

"Thracians! The enemy commander lies dead on the ground! Onward, to victory!", Prince Charles shouted, pointing his sword at the remaining enemy soldiers. The red eyed boy smirked seeing as the enemies were pretty close to being routed, with their morale probably extremely low.

"For Malkbacconne and the Holy Empire!"Shouting their warcry, the Thracian soldiers charged forward, attacking the remaining enemies and pushing them back without mercy, gaining the advantage in this bloody melee combat. The Moesian cavalry led by Princess Julia herself charged the flanks of the enemies. The end of the battle was near.

Meanwhile, one of the Thracian soldiers managed to climb on the citadel. Once he arrived at the top, he cut the purple Neo-Roman flag down, putting the red-yellow Thracian flag instead of it. The Holy Imperial Eagle was waving upon Port Eagle's citadel.

In the city, the Thracian soldiers and the Golfian mercenaries advanced, following their orders. Kill anyone holding a weapon, but leave the unarmed people alive. Pillaging, stealing and destroying were of course, forbidden. Pushing forward, the Thracians surrounded the remaining enemies near Port Eagle's church.

The two holy orders managed to sneak through the hole and made it to the top of the walls, and a massacre ensued as they butchered any Eastern soldier who dared to challenge either the Warrior Clergy or the Pagan Hunters of the Golfian Inquisition. Soon the walls were covered in blood and gut scattered around like in a messy butcherer's shop and you could hear the holy warriors say: "NONE SHALL SURVIVE"...

After the brutal fighting on the walls, they made it to the main Thracian/Golfian force surrounding Port Eagle's church, where the last enemy soldiers were preparing for their last stand. Soon after, the Emperor and his Lords also made it there.

Emperor Alexander III started to negotiate with the remaining Eastern soldiers located inside the church with the unconditional surrender conditions.

"Listen up dear Easterners, I will only say this once! I order you to surrender now and I can guarantee you, 100%, that you along with everyone else in this city will be spared, no harm shall be inflicted towards you unless you're trying to challenge our authority, Otherwise I have no other choice than to carry out the appropiate disciplinary actions! If you do not surrender immediately, we will burn this church down and I can guarantee that immense pain will follow and you'll probably regret it in the end, when it's already too late! So, what will you say?" The Emperor was hoping that they would go for the former decision as evidenced here: "Dear Lord, please help them make the right decision..."

After some time, an Eastern soldier opened the main door to the church and stepped outside. All Thracians, Golfians, Holy orders, the Dukes and the Emperor turned their gazes to him. "Well, what's it gonna be?" the Emperor wondered.

"Sigh", after consulting with my brothers in arms, we decided to: Surrender..." the Easterner said.

"Great, excellent choice you made there. It makes everything smoother and faster". Gentlemen, I declare that the Battle of Port Eagle is officially over!" the Emperor declared in a Proud tone.

"HURRAH; HURRAH; HURRAH, LONG LIVE THE VERANIANS AND THE HOLY EMPIRE!" All of the soldiers shouted joyfully!

Thus the first battle of the campaign ended...

After a couple of hours, the Thracians and Golfians finally settled in. The citizens were required to house most of the soldiers, however, the soldiers were also required to help out in the household as a mere compensation. Quite frankly, the citizens weren't that displeased, quite the contrary, they actually enjoyed having their new Conquerors there!

When the darkness finally filled the skies, it was time for everyone to head out to the nearest pubs and enjoy the occasional beer, chit chat and most importantly of all; the music!
Tonight, Princess Julia would perform with her smooth and delicate music, and she had one of the most soothing voices a young lady could'd have.

Prior to this conquest, the Princess wrote her own fantasy book series, called "Witchers and Dragons" and based on the stories and characters one could find in the books, she wrote her songs based on them and even managed to translate them into the languages she could speak. Despite that hundreds of years have gone passed, they are still regarded as one of the most beautiful epics in the known world, in particularly in Golfia and Tracia. Here's a small glimpse regarding that (extracted from "The Veranians; Sex, Money, Power and War):

"She (Princess Julia) is a national hero for the Holy Thracian Empire. She disappeared with her troops during the heavy mist which covered the path of the retreating Thracian troops after the Battle of Phalania, and never made it back to Kronos Edge.
In the 200 year period of the Decadentio Imperii, her songs were probably forbidden in Thrace, just like everything related to the Conquest of the East, but her image was repaired during the Renovatio Imperii by Emperor Velisarius, that's when her songs regained their popularity."

Here's a complete list of her songs in different languages (extracted from the critically acclaimed war-drama series "The Thracian Wars", which heavily featured her songs):

Here's a scene extracted from an episode of "The Thracian Wars", where she sings in front of an audience in Port Eagle's most popular tavern, which touched many of the citizens presented there, as they could relate to the passion of love in the song "Violet Eyes" (she based it on her fierce love she had with her brother, Prince Charles):

"Violet Eyes" (she also wrote it in her mother-tongue Thracian, Polish, Russian, German, Portuguese and French)

Looking out towards Port Eagle from a coastal cliff, Igor Palkinov had to face the fact: the Thracians had taken over Port Eagle. He, along with the remainder of his surviving soldiers, were no longer soldiers of the Second Empire but were prisoners. Although he knew that there was nothing he can do against numerical inferiority, being defeated was definitely not a good thing for him.

As he heard a cry hailing the Thracian Empire, Igor Palkinov had mixed feelings - rage and hatred against the Thracians, a sense of defeat, and disappointment in himself. Although he was a native Port Eagle citizen, he loved the Second Empire: it had brought Port Eagle a sense of power and protection, guaranteed by that of the Imperator at Nova Roma. He himself lived in Nova Roma for a while, but had returned to his home to contribute something to the city. But now, the Second Empire's presence in Port Eagle was now lost.

"Port Eagle is lost," said Igor to himself. "We had to surrender to keep providence for Lord Strategos and our lives, but what's the use of it, when our pride and glory are lost? The purple Roman flag, once flying high and proud over the seas and the sky, are now taken by the red Thracian banner. But I will continue the fight - I will help out the Second Empire in any way I can, even if it takes my life. I'm not over here."

Slowly, he walked east - farther and farther from Port Eagle, as the sun was setting over the horizon. He knew that no one would be accompanying him, but he had willed to go farther away from Port Eagle - a city that had lost its pride.

He was never seen around Port Eagle again.
